"Are you a God?"

Films: Ghostbusters (1984)

Alias: Gozer the Gozerian (Lord of the Sebouillia, Volguus Zildrohar, Mr, Stay Puft), Zuul the Gatekeeper and Vinz Clortho the Keymaster, Slimer, Eleanor Twitty the Gray Lady

Type: Mystical

Location: Haunted home/Civilized area/Eldritch location

Height/Weight: Ranges from that of a large dog to that of a skyscraper.

Affiliation: Neutral (Slimer, Eleanor), Evil (everyone else)

Summary: So, a world-wrecking entity has found itself on Earth. So, the spirits and spooks of the world have risen to her presence. There's only one team on the case: the Ghostbusters!

History: Gozer was an Mesopotamian demon god that has been around for eons, taking out entire civilizations and undoing whole worlds in a mad power trip. One day, it came to New York City, its ambassadors the twin Terror Dogs Zuul and Vinz Clortho. Even worse, its presence causes spectral activity all across the city to rise to new heights. Now, only an intrepid group of nerds and losers can stop them. We're toast.

Notable Kills: None.

Final Fate: All other spirits (except Eleanor) are taken care of before Gozer takes on a form based on the first thing the Ghostbusters think of...a gigantic marshmallow mascot. One crossing of the streams later, and Gozer’s temple goes boom, banishing it and its minions forever.

Powers/Abilities: Omnipotence, including shapeshifting and possession.

Weakness: An explosion of power with enough magnitude should send Gozer away.

Scariness Factor: 4-Most of the ghosts are scary to some degree (Eleanor especially), but it's often off-set by the presence of the Ghostbusters. Gozer and its henchmen however are in a class of their own, with the deadly androgynous evil making them cower alongside some downright menacing Hellhounds. A pity that not only did Vinz possess Rick Moranis of all people, but Gozer's chosen destructor form is just hilarious.

Trivia: -Gozer made a cameo in the 2009 video game sequel...as a skull being held by one of its own disciples. Eleanor also appeared, providing closure to her open-ended escape from the first film.

-The Ghostbusters really took off after this film, starring in a couple animated cartoons (with Slimer becoming a full-on good guy), the aforementioned video game, and that...divisive reboot. Let's leave it at that.
